Take sun, young people, sausages, fun, games, songs, prayers, new friends, a bus and water. Mix well and enjoy!

The SU Beach Mission to the St. Helens community once again was exceptional. We as a parish say a hearty BIG 'thank you' to the 20 young people who sacrificed not just a few days early in January 2003, but many weeks and months of rehearsal, practice, praying and getting to know you as the teams prepared to come to us.

This year there were two groups. The Primary group, 5-12 (ably lead by Jabra Latham) were catered for each day at the Portland Hall by 12 team members.

With a theme of 'Heaven: the Utlimate Party' they had a huge week of partying!! Children came from everywhere: including locals, holiday makers and two boys daily from St Marys.

Waterfront

The teenage programme was our first experience of mission with this age group for many years. Our two leaders Gwyn & Rachel Morgan were in charge of an enthusiastic team of eight with a theme week based on the TV series 'Survivor'. Impact Fertiliser graciously lent us their huge tent which dominated the Foreshore area of the St Helens waterfront for the week.

Each day the young ones were catered for by the parish at the Foreshore BBQ area for lunch and their programme was completed by 2pm. The week finished with a bus ride to the sand dunes for the last challenge for the survivors.

50 faces

As most of our young adults leave the area for further education at TAFE, Uni or Years 11 and 12, or work, we challenge other parishes with strong youth teams: come and visit us with a Mission theme anytime. The youngsters will come, because in our little town there aren't many choices.

The Lord Jesus said 'Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest.' (John 4: 35)

Seeing over 50 faces every morning tells you who they are and why. Come join us in mission.
