On the 5th August 2002 the Murree Christian School in Pakistan was attacked by terrorists. When it was all over, survivors compared notes and realised that it really was a miracle that only six people had been killed. Sue Morton compiled this small book from the stories of those survivors. Of great significance to her was the scripture verse she was given and shared with the others. 'Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long. . .' Deuteronomy 33.12 The power of prayerAs students and staff were hiding in the school hall they heard beautiful choral music from the roof space. It sounded like a CD but they later realised that it wasn't. God provided music to calm them and keep them still. One man remained unseen in a tiny insecure bathroom. A woman felt herself hauled inside a heavy steel door, yet no-one was in the room. There were other miracles and this small book provides personal reflections on the attack and its aftermath from staff members, students and parents. It is quite inspiring and demonstrates a God who works, protects and saves always. The power of prayer is very evident in these short testimonies and reminded this reader that we too must keep praying for those we send out to difficult situations on God's mission. |
