10, 9, 8... God is great!

by Melanie Casey

We are all thrilled and overwhelmed with the blessings of God.

We were able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas celebration in St Marys with the children of JAM.

Our programme started with the JJs (Jesus Juniors) coming into the church singing J-O-Y, J-O-Y this must surely be, Jesus first and yourself last and others in-between....... to the tune of Jingle Bells.

A small group of Jammers presented the Legend of the Candy Cane, using their own crafted canes as the props. The children sang 10, 9, 8 ...God is great!, God's not dead and Jesus is the mighty mighty King. The parents and friends also sang some carols with us.

The delight of the service was to see the children place their handcrafted nativity pieces in place. We are very blessed at JAM to have one of our leaders, Pam Lynch, so gifted with craft and without her, this Christmas Nativity would not have happened! So our love and gratitude go out to her.

We also had a bare, but beautiful living pine tree in the church! When the time came for the JAM children to decorate it, (again, with their own craft) they transformed it into a gorgeous reason for why we then sang, O Christmas Tree.

What a morning we had!. We were there to celebrate the birth of Jesus and celebrate we did. We sang Happy Birthday Jesus and again the parents and friends joined in with us.

God even provided a real baby, a boy and man to help flesh out the message of the service, which was to remind people that Jesus grew up ... that He was a boy ... that He grew into a man, and that He did not remain in the manger!
