Opium of the people?
The spire of St Mary's Hagley looms over a field of opium poppies in full flower. No, the parish is not involved in narcotics: the field belongs to the local primary school, Hagley Farm.

Fun in the Westbury children's tent

by Rev. Paul Grayston

At the recent 2002 Westbury Show the Parish of Quamby ran activities for children along with other local churches and Fusion Australia.

The day was an extraordinary success. 150 children with their families came through our tent and enjoyed pouring rice, blowing bubbles, using playdough, hammering nails, making colourful masks and joining in the challenging activities provided outside by Fusion.

It was great to work with the other local churches to do something positive in the community and to fill a real need. The Show committee were thrilled and have insisted we come back next year. It was a great opportunity to meet local families and a thoroughly enjoyable day.
