			This was Dean Fewtrell's Christmas message and timetable for Christmas Day as recorded in the Church News, December 1952. Chistmas greetings and best wishes for a happy Christmastide to you all wherever you may be. Services will be as at Easter last year - a slight adjustment to the late morning hours of past years. Holy Communion at the Royal Hobart Hospital at 5.30am followed by Communions in the wards. In the Cathedral, 6, 7, and 8 and 9.30am (sung). Mattins is sung at 10.30am, followed by a choral Eucharist. The sermon will come immediately after Mattins and before the Eucharist. Those who so desire may leave at the close of the hymn after the sermon. The preacher will be the Bishop of Tasmania. At 8pm. a service of carols, old and new, sung by the choir with opportunities for the congregation to join in well known carols This year Advent and Christmas services at St David's will be Sundays at 10 am The Dean's Advent Series 'Listening To Butterflies' - Three poems and some Dickens Choral Eucharist: December 1st and 15th APBA (A Prayer Book for Australia) December 8th and 22nd BCP (Book of Common Prayer) Sundays at 7 pm December 1st: Choral Evensong for Advent Sunday Preacher: The Revd Canon Laurie McIntyre December 8th: Evening Prayer December 15th: A Penitential Service for Advent December 22nd: A Liturgy of Hope and Expectation: Choral Advent Concerts December 1st: 3 pm Handel 'Messiah' - Tasmanian Chorale with Hobart Chamber Orchestra. December 10th: 7.30 pm Ogilvie High School Carol Service December 21st: 2 pm Wingfold Christmas Eve (Tuesday) 7 pm Carols Service with Readings 11 pm Blessing of the Crib and First Eucharist of Christmas Preacher: The Bishop Christmas Day (Wednesday) 7 am Eucharist (said) Preacher: Canon Laurie McIntyre 8 am Eucharist with Carols Preacher: Bishop Jerrim 9.30 am Family Eucharist Preacher: The Revd Dr C Newell 11 am Solemn Eucharist Preacher: The Dean January Services Sundays 8 am Eucharist 10 am Sung Eucharist January 5th, 19th APBA January 12th BCP Jan 26th 11.15 am Australia Day Service Eucharist 7 pm Choral Evensong Weekdays Monday and Wednesday - 1.05 pm Tuesday - 7.45 am Thursday - 10.30 am (BCP) Friday - 12.05 pm and looking forward... Preparations are well in hand for the 35th Ecumenical and Community Floral Festival to be held in the Cathedral from 14 - 16th February 2003. The theme for this festival is 'Flowers in Celebration.' Many churches have been invited to participate, but inevitably contact details for some are difficult to trace as office bearers change. As part of the Festival there will be a Sunday afternoon concert of popular music in the Cathedral - so please mark February 16 in your new diaries for 2003!
