Background
St Luke's Anglican Association, a charitable
organisation, has provided health services for
Tasmanians for 100 years. The Association commenced
serving the community in 1900 when it opened the
Launceston Homeopathic Hospital. This facility, now
known as St Luke's Private Hospital, was sold by
the Association in 1986, with the proceeds being
returned to the community through a variety of
services. Those services are primarily for the
aged, disabled and terminally ill.
Apart from the services the Association directly
manages, it also provides support for a Domiciliary
Nursing Service and a Chaplaincy Service.
