Aims
- To improve communication with other Anglicans, especially within the Diocese;
- To increase the sense of community and belonging for parishioners and all people associated with the Diocese;
- To tell the local and global community who we are and what we believe;
- To serve Tasmanians better by being more accessible to them.
Archives
- Where material may prove to be of personal, theological or historical interest beyond its normal use-by date the webmaster will archive it on the site for an appropriate length of time.
Calendar
- Editorial control belongs to the Diocesan website Editor.
- Events of Diocesan significance or of interest to Anglicans throughout the Diocese are included. Events of major regional interest, and the Bishop's diary are also included. Events of more local interest are not included. See Parish home pages.
- Non-Diocesan events of interest may be placed if appropriate.
- Other parish events go on the relevant parish home pages or related pages, with a possible link from the news page.
Content
- Editorial control belongs to the Diocesan website Editor.
- As a general principle, content depth is preferred but content should be chunked and linked as much as possible.
- Discrete information is usually only listed once, e.g. someone's phone number or email address is obtained by clicking on a link to the person's home page.
- The webmaster edits or creates content in the first instance.
- The webmaster forwards to Diocesan website Editor anything he is not sure about.
- The Diocesan website Editor checks with the Bishop if there is doubt about an important issue.
- The site should be updated at least once a week (although since its inception the site has been updated almost daily).
- Tasanglican Online should be updated monthly, close to the time of print publication.
- The Diocesan Registry Officer receives directory, calendar, and prayer and praise requests and updates directory and calendar accordingly. Prayer and praise requests are passed on to the person delegated by the website Editor in the first instance.
- The webmaster receives all other requests.
Copyright
- Copyright for content, design, code and programs resides in the first instance with the originator, otherwise it resides with the Diocese.
- People submitting content do so on the understanding that it might be edited by the webmaster or Diocesan website Editor or his nominee.
- Credit is given where credit is due but text and photographs are submitted on the understanding that copyright permission has been granted.
- We endeavour to strictly observe all the relevant laws of copyright.
- Do not submit content to this website unless you are certain you own the copyright or have written permission from the copyright owner.
- Content will be immediately deleted if there is even a hint that copyright permission has not been granted.
Disclaimer
- We take no responsibility for any one, or for anything that happens, because someone intentionally or unintentionally does something not in accordance with this website policy.
House style
- House style, being a matter of policy, is decided by Anglican Media Tasmania. Editorial control belongs to the Diocesan website Editor.
- Site integrity, style, presentation and type of content should remain consistent.
- Australian spelling and punctuation is used except in quotations originating outside Australia. The dictionary used as the authority in spelling is the Macquarie Dictionary.
- Media-rich content is to be avoided for the time being but may be admitted in the future as the average bandwidth available to our users increases.
Home pages for individuals (clergy and laity)
- Editorial control belongs to the Diocesan website Editor.
- These are normally limited to the information in the current Diocesan directory but information may be deleted at the request of the person concerned, e.g. home address and phone number, date of birth. Personal contact data not found in the Diocesan directory, such as addresses, phone numbers and personal email addresses, will only be published on the Diocesan website with the permission of the person concerned.
- Be warned that if your email address is placed on the site then it could expose you to spam. If you don't want your email address on the site, please ask the webmaster to remove it.
- Individuals are encouraged to supply a brief personal profile and a self-portrait photograph for their home page.
Images of people
- Editorial control belongs to the Diocesan website Editor.
- Images of adults may be identified.
- Images of people under the age of 18 may be displayed on this site but never in such a way that their name is displayed or their identity inferred.
Maintenance
- The webmaster is responsible for ongoing site maintenance and updating, including supervision of other people who manage parts of the site.
- The Diocesan Registry Officer manages the textual content of directory information and calendars.
- The Editor's delegate is responsible in the first instance for maintaining the prayer and praise pages.
- The Editor is responsible for oversight of content and implementation of policy.
- Diocesan Council's Diocesan website Committee is responsible for setting and revising policy.
Home pages for parishes and organisations
- Editorial control belongs to the Diocesan Website Editor.
- Only one home page is provided for each parish or organisation.
- Parishes and organisations are encouraged to develop their own separate sites or multiple pages on another site.
- Learn more about a website for your parish or organisation.
- Parishes or organisations which have no website of their own may have at their own expense, within the diocesan website, a number of other pages devoted to the parish, linked to their home page. Parishes and organisations are responsible for ensuring such pages, other than the Diocesan directory information on the main home page, are updated in a timely manner. Contact the webmaster for further information and prices.
- For parishes, the home page and any associated pages within the Diocesan Web Site may contain graphics, basic information and service times at the discretion of the parish in consultation with the webmaster, provided it meets editorial approval.
- Parish home pages should not contain details of programs. Such details should be placed on the parish's own website, or the pages linking from their own parish home page where they have no website of their own.
- Parish home pages must contain contact information and also the names and street addresses of worship centres. Personal contact data not found in the Diocesan directory, such as addresses, phone numbers and personal email addresses, will only be published on the Diocesan website with the permission of the person concerned.

- Prayer and praise requests are no longer published publicly on this site.
- Membership of the private prayer mailing list is restricted to Anglicans in this diocese who are vouched for by a member of the clergy or a senior lay person.
- Members of the private prayer mailing list agree to keep the contents of prayer and praise requests absolutely confidential and private.
