Media release Friday 23 November 2007 Five Anglicans to be ordainedThe Anglican Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend John Harrower, will ordain five people at St David's Cathedral, Hobart, this Saturday 24 November, three as priest and two as deacon. Those to be ordained have had a wide variety of life experience, with previous careers as a crime scene examiner and Harvey Norman proprietor, a town planner, a nurse and farmer, and a horse trainer. Those to be ordained deacon are Ross Duncan, who is the Chaplain to Risdon Prison, and Mark Holland, who is working with youth and families at Holy Trinity-BayWest parish. Those to be ordained priest are Revd Ross Elwood, ministering in the Parish of Buckland, Revd Alison Shoobridge, in the Tasman Peninsula, and Revd Paul Chew, who is working mainly with young people and young families at Battery Point and St David's Cathedral. Bishop Harrower said, 'I'm very pleased to see a continual steady stream of new leaders being ordained in Tasmania over recent years. We are blessed with men and women of wide experience and different gifts who are taking up the challenge of serving their church and local community in these new roles. They will be a valuable part of the local leadership of the Anglican Church in Tasmania.' The ordination service begins at 10.30am Saturday 24 November at St David's Cathedral, Murray Street, Hobart. Media representatives are welcome to attend and film the service. After the service ends (approximately 12 noon) Bishop Harrower may be approached for interview.
