Holy Trinity and BayWest Parishes to Merge

The members of the Holy Trinity and BayWest parishes in Hobart have both voted to become one parish. The votes took place at separate AGMs today.

Over the past two years, the Anglican churches in Hobart's inner city have been discussing the best way to minister in future years. One year ago, Holy Trinity and BayWest both decided to move towards a merger, as this was seen as a strategic and positive way ahead. St David's Cathedral and St George's Battery Point have also formed a closer ministry relationship through this process.

Holy Trinity Parish covers the North Hobart area and some surrounds, whilst BayWest goes from Upper Sandy Bay to West Hobart. They share a boundary at the edge of West Hobart.

The new Parish will begin meeting together in coming months.

The Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend John Harrower, said that he congratulated the two parishes on their vision and initiative.
