Four Anglicans to be Ordained

The Anglican Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend John Harrower OAM, will ordain four people at St David's Cathedral, Hobart, this Saturday 24th February, 3 as priest and 1 as deacon.

Those to be ordained include two men and two women, who have a wide variety of life experience, and will be ministering around the state.

John Langlois has been appointed as Rector of St Georges Battery Point - John has recently returned to Hobart from the US with his wife, Roslyn, where they spent 10 years working with the Christian Performing Arts Fellowship. Both are well known in Hobart through their past work at Clarendon Children's Home, Beth Shalom Community and Youth With A Mission, and Roslyn also through her involvement in the local music community.

Jill McCoy has worked in pastoral care, Christian formation, and with post-graduate qualifications is a former theological college lecturer, who will be overseeing a group of churches in the North-West of Tasmania.

Robert Stanley worked for 12 years in the IT industry before turning to full-time church ministry, and is placed in Sandford Parish.

Brenda Snell has remarkably recovered from many years paralysis with MS, to now be ministering in the Kingston nursing home where she was once a resident.

Bishop Harrower said, 'We are continuing to see the strengthening of our church leadership in Tasmania, with men and women of wide experience and different gifts. I'm delighted to see them all taking up the challenge of serving their church and local community in these new roles and they will be a valuable part of the local leadership of the Anglican Church in Tasmania.

The ordination service begins at 10am, Saturday 24th February, at St David's Cathedral, Murray St, Hobart. Media representatives are welcome to attend.
