Seven Anglicans to be ordained

The Anglican Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend John Harrower OAM, will ordain seven people at St David's Cathedral, Hobart, this Saturday, 4th November. Four will be ordained as Priests and three will be ordained as Deacons.

Bishop Harrower sees this as another step forward in the life of the Anglican Church in Tasmania. "I'm very pleased to be able to commission these people for their ministries around Tasmania. We continue to see new leadership raised up from within our churches, which is a great sign for the future."

Those to be ordained include six women and one man, who come from wide-ranging professions, including teaching, commercial fishing, the public service and office administration. One ordinand has recovered from paralysis due to Multiple Sclerosis, to now be leading ministries to the nursing home where she was once resident.

They will be involved in a variety of ministries around Tasmania including Hobart, the Huon, St Helens and Wynyard.

Bishop Harrower said, "These new Deacons and Priests will bring the strength of wide and varied life experience, as well as new enthusiasm for serving God in their local ministries. They will be a great asset to the church and the Tasmanian community."

The ordination service begins at 10:30am, Saturday 5th November, at St David's Cathedral, Murray St, Hobart. Media representatives are welcome to attend.
