Media statement Friday 31 December 2004 Anglican appeal for tsunami-affected communitiesThe Anglican Church in Tasmania has expressed its sorrow at the suffering caused by the recent tsunamis in Asia. The Vicar-General, the Rev'd Chris Jones, has asked Tasmanians to join in prayer for those who have lost loved ones during these events. He said, 'We also ask God to give strength to those working in the emergency services, and healing to those recovering in hospital. The destruction has been horrific and the aid effort will require generous support from governments and individuals across the world.' The Church is seeking support for an appeal launched by AngliCORD (Anglicans Co-operating in Overseas Relief and Development). Cheques can be sent to 1A Canterbury Road, Camberwell, Vic, 3124.
