Public Lecture on Australia's Response to Refugees

The Anglican Church will this weekend be holding public lectures and workshops in Hobart and Launceston evaluating Australia's response to refugees.

The keynote speaker is Rev'd Dr Gordon Preece. Dr Preece is currently the Director of the Centre of Applied Christian Ethics at Ridley College, Melbourne. From July 2004 he will succeed Robert Banks as the Director and Dean at Macquarie Christian Studies Institute in Sydney.

The Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend John Harrower, who has spoken out a number of times on this issue over the past three years, will be attending the lectures and workshops.

Dr Gordon Preece and Bishop Harrower will be available for interview following the workshops in Hobart and Launceston - at 12.15pm, Saturday at the Hope Christian Centre, Hobart, and 4.45pm Sunday at St John's Parish Centre, Launceston.
