The Enabler Supported Parish of...
The main centre of the parish is St Mark's Church at Cygnet and other worship centres are St Simon and St Jude, Woodbridge.
Worship takes place at all centres each Sunday. Eucharist services are held at Cygnet on the first and third Sundays of the month and on the Channel on the second and fourth Sundays.
The Channel centres share worship with Woodbridge Uniting Church on fifth Sundays.
At St. Marks, as we have been interacting with the local community we have been aware that many people have little knowledge or interest in our Church. Some have barely even been aware of the existence of St. Marks, despite having lived in the area for some time.
We have intentionally engaged with the community in many ways over recent years by holding of fetes, special occasion celebrations both inside and outside the church. Luncheons in the park, celebrations of skills within the community and generally publicising our activities to keep the community informed.
We have recently stepped up our engagement with the community by committing to hold the community in prayer through the use of a prayer diary. The generic groups of shopkeepers, trades, professions, clubs and groups are listed and the community have been encouraged to ask for prayer if specific need arises.
We are wanting the community to know that we believe St. Marks to be a Church for the community, not just for those who meet in the Church on the hill.
We also want the community to have a better idea of what goes on in the Church. We asked the congregation to articulate the essence of their relationship with God and here is a summary of the response.
I know God's love both in my heart and through relationships
I know that forgiveness through Jesus means eternal life for me
The Holy Spirit gives me strength and comfort and guides my choices in life
The Holy Spirit helps me to help others
I am encouraged and strengthened through answered prayer
I delight in seeing God in all creation
The bible gives me guidance and inspiration

New Zealand and Canada preceded Australia adopting this model, used in various parishes in some dioceses, and is known by differing names. The ministry is always centred upon the equipping and enabling of all parishioners to recognise and use their God given gifts to minister within the Church and more importantly to minister amongst communities in which they are placed.
Ministry support teams are called by the Church members to coordinate ministries decided by the local Church to be important in their community context. The teams along with the enabler are the incumbent of the Parish. Enablers are experienced in team ministry as well as parish church management.
The Secondary age youth group meets first Friday each month from 7.30pm - 9.00pm at St Mark's Church Hall. Contact Terry Robson or Tracey Salmon for new comers in case a special 'away' event is planned
