The Society is a brotherhood of both clergy and laity within the fellowship of the Church. Its work is part of the ministry of the Church. The Organisation is world-wide and in Australia, the Society will celebrate its centenary in July 2005. The aims of the Society is the advancement of the Christian faith through the fellowship of men within the family of the Church, furthered through a series of objects designed to encourage and support men to live out the Christian faith in all situations. The Society's motto is: WITNESS, FELLOWSHIP & SERVICE. Membership is open to men, being sixteen years of age or over, who are communicants of the Anglican Church, or Churches in full communion therewith. Associate members are men being 16 years of age or over, who are non-communicant members of the Anglican Church or who are professing members of any other Christian Church. A Branch is usually Parish-based with the Vicar/Rector of the Parish being ex officio President and the Branch's Chaplain. Membership is not restricted to those registered through a Parish Branch. Members in this category are referred to as Diocesan Members. In Tasmania there are three Branches, St George's Battery Point, Longford/Perth and the Moonah Branch.
