What is Cursillo?
A Cursillo is a short course in Christian living in which participants have an experience of living in a Christian community. The Cursillo movement started in Spain in the 1940s, reached Australia in 1979 and came to Tasmania in 1995. The course is held over a weekend from Thursday evening to Sunday evening and separate courses are run for Men and for Women. Courses are provided in the North and the South of Tasmania.
We are looking for people to attend these weekend courses as candidates, who can be anyone at least 18 years of age, an Anglican communicant member and who have a desire to grow as a Christian.

Because of the on-going nature of Cursillo, someone who has already attended a Cursillo weekend is required to sponsor each candidate. If you are interested in Cursillo, talk to someone from your church who has been to Cursillo, or contact us and we can put you in touch with someone in your area.
Ultreyas
Those who have attended a Cursillo weekend are called Cursillistas. Meetings are held regularly for Cursillistas for support and encouragement. These meetings are called Ultreyas. Although primarily for Cursillistas, any interested people are welcome to attend an Ultreya. Two Diocesan Ultreyas are held each year and regional Ultreyas are held in the North, South and North West at other times. Dates for Ultreyas are shown in the diocesan calendar
