a healthy church...transformingLIFE

Louise Priest

Louise was born towards the end of the second world war. She is a 'Wynyard person' who has lived in the area all of her life except for the odd time in Hobart. Two eldest daughters where born in Wynyard, the youngest in Hobart. The final move back to Wynyard was in 1973-4.

Louise's involvement with church started early. Her mother and father worshiped at St. Stephen's and from a young age Louise was encouraged in her faith and to 'step out' in public. Part of this was involvement teaching Sunday School and the like. Her children all attended that Sunday School and have continued in the faith and now are members of three different denominations! Louise enjoys taking her part of the spiritual journey of her grandchildren.

Being a member of Parish Council, a lay reader, and a Rector's Warden 'for more years than I can remember' have all been a part of Louise' involvement in the church, along with her being secretary of the Wynyard Ministers Association and also involvement in Cursillo.

For over twenty years Louise was involved in the Girl Guide movement, receiving a number of awards. Louise considers the years to be valuable in their own right, but also formative in leadership, patience and endurance. She took these qualities into her work with Vincent Industries, a supported employment service for people with a disability. Louise still visits the employees even in her retirement.

Louise has been aware of her vocation for some time but has waited for God's timing. She has a compassionate heart, and a gift of encouragement.
