Irfon GriffithsIrfon and Barbara come from Sydney, where they worked together in parish growth and development. Their skill is in taking small, faithful congregations and helping them grow both in numbers and in their faith in Jesus Christ. They seek to work under the Lordship of Christ and, within the Anglican context, to see the church built up. Irfon has been a diocesan lay reader in Sydney for 22 years and in that time has been involved in re-planting two churches at Rossmore and Denham Court. Barbara's love of people and enthusiasm for children's work is infectious. She is a vital part of the team. Irfon is a wholesale jeweller, and running this business helps them to be self funded ministers of the Gospel. They are part of a group of self funded ministers encouraged and prayed for by the Bush Church Aid Society. They value being in the BCA family because of the prayer it generates - a vital component of their ministry. When Bishop John welcomed them to this Diocese he recognised that their training and experience could be better harnessed for ministry if Irfon was ordained. The call was embraced by Irfon as he sees the value of leading with both the ministry of Word and Sacrament. The Griffiths have a daughter and a son living in Sydney, and they now have six grandchildren, with a recent addition. |
