Let us pray...for and with our Bishop

Too busy to pray?

How to Pray When You Are Too Busy was a book written by Bill Hybells. Although it is a helpful book, it reflects the short-comings of our society. We are busy people with so many options and opportunities, consumed with 'much-ness and many-ness'. Judy was told recently, that the average person in the Western World is too busy for friendships. Superficiality has become the curse of our age. Too busy for others … for God … too busy for prayer.

The media and internet also add to our malaise. What are we going to do with all this information we are consuming?

Too busy to pray? If the answer is 'Yes', then we are too busy!

Yet prayer beckons us, the Lord beckons us to come and 'seek his face'.

The Commencement of the Bishop's Prayer Pilgrimage - October 24th

This will not be just a nice trip around Tasmania; this will be our Bishop and our parishes engaging in spiritual warfare.

'This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels'. Ephesians 6:12 (The Message)

Let's face it, any movement towards effective mission and ministry will not be welcomed by Satan - rather violent opposition is what we should expect. Would you join me to daily pray and fast (in a way that is appropriate for you*) during the Bishop's Prayer Pilgrimage?

We need a people who will stand with him in prayer and not just when he visits your or my parish.

'Pray as you can, not as you can't'.

We come empty handed, just as the old hymn says:

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;

And as the Old Book says:

'When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen.
'When you come looking for me, you'll find me.
'Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed.' GOD's Decree. 'I'll turn things around for you'.

Jeremiah 29:12-14a

* Fasting - if you think fasting may affect your health, or you are under the supervision of your doctor and are taking medication, do not undertake any form of fasting from food without consulting your doctor.
